Red Ribbon Week 2023

Challenge of Tarrant County is a fervent supporter of the annual Red Ribbon Week Campaign. This year's campaign, in partnership with the University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth, is focused on helping parents understand just how simple it is for their kids to find life-altering, deadly drugs through apps, social media and their smart phones.

Do you know the code?

Red Ribbon Week 2024

This year's campaign, in partnership with the UTA School of Social Work and the JPS Health Network, is focused on educating parents on the complexities and availability of cannabinoid products, such as Delta 8. In a state such as Texas, where the sale and recreational use of cannabis is illegal, it is shocking to learn that approximately 90% of Delta-8 products, which are widely available, contain an illegal amount of THC. Learn more from our video series and Parent Handbook.

Red Ribbon Week Campaign

Day One – You don't know what you don't know.

Day One is an introduction to Delta 8 THC products

and how easily they are purchased by anyone, including kids.

Day Two – Myths vs. Facts

Day Two is focused on myth-busting the current attitudes and assumptions about Delta 8 THC products.

Day Three – Consequences

Using delta 8 THC products can have unintended consequences for both youth and adults. We've covered five:

Criminal, Academic, Vocational, Social and Financial.

Day Four – Start the Conversations

Ready, set, go! We know it's difficult to start hard conversations, but your adolescents and teens are depending on you to talk about the risks they face, especially concerning substances they may be using. For strategies and conversation starters, please download the Parent's Handbook below.

Day Five – Contemplate and Evaluate

If you feel the conversations about with your child stalled out, or worse, never got started, then stop, evaluate and do a self-check. Our kids look to us to model humility and respect.
